Streaming to ViuLive using your DJI Drone
Drone videos and live streaming are the perfect combination of technologies. On one hand, you have the unparalleled freedom of drone flight that you can have interesting views. On the other is the technology to stream videos in real-time to an unlimited number of audiences.

Streaming from your drone flight app
It should be noted that iPhones have the ability to communicate with the drone while can live stream via the internet, but not all Android phones can do this.
therefore, if you are an iPhone user you can open the drone app and follow the steps to do the streaming. However, Android users must use a cable connection (OTG cable) between the phone and the drone base.
- One of the most popular and easy to stream drone is the DJI GO 4 app, it is one of the best App designed for easy live streaming.
- Install the app and create your new account
- Once in the App, Enter Device
- Select, Enter Camera View, make sure that the app is connected to a mobile 4G network and it is enabled for live broadcast.
- Click on the 3 dots on the top right and select “Choose Live Streaming Platform”
This will bring you to a window where you can select between 3 live broadcast platforms, step 3 of the following photos:
- YouTube
- Facebook Live
- Custom RTMP
Step 1: First you need to open DJI Go application; follow above steps until you see a 3-dot button on right top corner.

Step 2: Click on the 3 dots, a New window will open where you need to select the live broadcast platform.

Step 3: Click on custom RTMP
Step 4: Type your RTMP streaming URL that you got from ViuLive app.
- Install & Open ViuLive app, create a new account
- Select Advanced Live
- Select a category based on your content.
- Next screen, click on “add RTMP streams”.
- Next screen you will be issues a URL which you can copy and paste in to the drone app
Step 5: Click next and you’re on air!
Step 6: Remember that the DJI app will automatically start your microphone from your screen/monitor and if you don’t want to broadcast the audio you should click the live icon and turn the audio off.
Live streaming through the mobile app is the most convenient option, especially for those who are on the go or don’t have special streaming equipment. The biggest limitation of the approach is that the live stream video resolution is often restricted to only 720p.
Most of the drone flight apps have native support for live streaming. After the DJI Go 4 app most of the versions supports live streaming. Only the new DJI Fly app which was designed for the newly released Mavic Mini and Mavic Air 2 drones. Right now, DJI Fly does not have any sort of live streaming features, although there’s always the possibility of it being included in firmware updates.
